Native American music

Native American music is something I really enjoy and I'd like to share some of my favorite songs here. These are nice songs to daydream to and travel somewhere far away in your imagination.

Douglas Spotted Eagle - Closer Still
This is my all-time favorite in this category. Just so beautiful and melodic.

Douglas Spotted Eagle - Closer To Far Away

And here's something a little different from those two, but I've really grown to love this song.
Keith Secola - NDN Kars

Some good music for a change: Jess Moskaluke

I'm subscribed to Tyler Ward's YouTube channel and this gal is his featured artist. I think she has just about perfect country-pop styled voice. So beautiful!

This next video is pretty horrible in my opinion. Walking down the street in some suburbia doesn't really suit the song, but I do love the song and her voice.

P.S. The photo shoot with Juni has unfortunately been postponed :( Too tight schedules and whatnot. Next Sunday maybe, anyways it is going to happen sooner or later!

Hang-over Sunday without the hang-over

I've been feeling a little anxious today...lying on the couch watching TV and thinking things through (which is never a good idea). I feel like I should go see a psychologist or something, my mind feels so screwed up when I have too much time to think.
The way I see myself hasn't been so great lately (different, though, from the not-so-great way I've seen myself before lately) and I have no idea what to do about it. I can't talk about it and if I manage to say something to someone I end up feeling extremely anxious and uncomfortable. It's just too damn personal and I don't even know how to put my thoughts into words most of the time.
That's another problem of mine...I feel sorry for my friends who have to put up with me floating away into some imaginary world or thinking stuff and never being able to form full sentences out of them. Dead Japanese trees indeed....

Oh well, a couple of amazing pieces of music for you guys.
Tonight these cheer me up if anything else doesn't, because they're just so damn good.

New music again: Harmaja

I started browsing Sydänpuu's similar artists in last.fm and found this pretty interesting band.
"Harmaja is the new acoustic project of Charon/ex-Poisonblack frontman Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto. The group, which also features Charon drummer Antti Karihtala, sings in Finnish and is said to be influenced by the likes of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Morrisey."

Sydäntalvella

Hauras
I have to say that I just love the sound of fingers moving
from chord to chord on the guitar.

I love the similar/realted artists feature in both last.fm and in Spotify. It's so easy to find new bands that you like! And at the moment I'm already listening to a song by a group I'm going to post about tomorrow. :)

What are your greatest music discoveries and how did you find them?
How do you usually find new music?
I always love to hear about new bands and artists, so let's hear it!

More new music - Sydänpuu!

Ok, so I found another band of Jani Liimatainen (obsessed? nooo...) yesterday and it's called Sydänpuu. Or as last.fm says:
"Sydänpuu is a Finnish rock band from the northern town of Kemi. Risto Koskinen and an unknown artist mysteriously named Allan Anderssén decided to compose a few songs for fun and so the Sydänpuu was formed."

Sydänpuu @ Mikseri

Hautaa minut tänään is my favorite. It's nice to hear Jani sing, and in Finnish! Awesome :)

Cain's Offering! ♥

I know I've already made one mega-post today, but I received an amazing CD in the mail today and I just have to share! Cain's Offering is the name of the band and I think I'm in love...
Jukka Koskinen (bass), Jani Liimatainen (♥ guitars, backing vocals), Timo Kotipelto (vocals), Mikko Harkin (keyboards) and Jani Hurula (drums). The album is called Gather The Faithful.

These are my favorite songs from the album so far:

Acoustic music junkie

Maybe I'm shy that wayIf you're a lover of acoustic music like I am, you might like this Spotify-playlist:

Acoustic 3

Well it's not all acoustic, but singer-songwriter-style music.
I've been listening to it all of last night and today. I found it in sharemyplaylists.com a while back and it's got lots of jewels in it.

Here are some examples:

A Fine Frenzy - Almost Lover

Ben Harper - Walk Away

Lissie - In Sleep

Just plain awesomeness! :) If you like it too, go to YouTube and clickety-click on that thumb up.

I hate to break it to you, babe, but I'm not drowning.

Let's all sing and dance to this! :)

I wish there was more frames with Kurt inside 'em, instead of Sam, though...;)

Oh and yeah so now the layout is all new and not so dark anymore! It's autumn, so it's dark enough already.

Covering a few of YouTube's cover-artists.

I've been listening to a lot of YouTube's cover-artists
and I thought it would be nice to make a post about my favorites. :)

Lisa Lavie

A singer/songwriter from Canada.
She reminds me of Leona Lewis. Technically amazing vocalist!

Michael Jackson - Earth Song
Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie - We Are The World 25 For Haiti
Jordin Sparks - Battlefield

Check out also her original songs! They are worth it.

Kurt Schneider and Sam Tsui

I'm so amazed at some of Kurt's arrangements. Even if a person don't know anything about arranging music, they should be able to see the talent his got there. Brilliant. And Sam Tsui shines like a star with his vocal talent! Although in some cases the American style "decorative" singing can get a little old, in my opinion. If you overdo it, the effect fades away (this same applies to Lisa Lavie also).
But otherwise, amazing pair!

Love The Way You Lie MASHUP
Summer Pop Medley
Replay
Lady Gaga Medley
Michael Jackson A cappella Medley

Also check out The College Musical!

Tyler Ward and Crew

My absolute favorite YouTube cover-artist! He's got a crew of very talented people around him and their videos are a lot fun. Many of his covers are acoustic and I'm a big sucker for acoustic (guitar) songs. :)

Lena - Satellite
Katy Perry - California Gurls
Carrie Underwood - Undo It with Elise Lieberth
Maroon 5 - Misery with Julia Sheer and Eppic

Also check out his original songs!

Scorpions & Berliner Philharmoniker

This is just something totally absolutely brilliantly MIND-BLOWING!
Even the very best can be made better with a proper orchestra.

Spotify

I downloaded Spotify on my laptop yesterday and I'm loving it.
It's kind of unreal to have access to all this music. Right now I'm listening to a piano tribute cover version of Paramore's Misery Business. It's interesting to say the least...

Awesome.

About discovering new music

Discovering new music is one of the best things in this world. I love getting music recommendations from people.

Back in the days when I still hung out in record stores all the time (I still do, but not as often) and found something I'd been looking for everywhere, the feeling was so great. The bus ride home was filled with anticipation and once I got home and got to listen to the CD...priceless.

A few times I've also bought a CD just 'cos the cover looked cool. For instance, RefleXion's first single, Undying Dreams, caught my eye and ended up home with me just because the cover had a cute guy with long red hair in it (I have a soft spot for men with long red hair).

13/52 I let you fuck with my head. I can't breath without you. It's what I like most about you.I remember discovering Sum41 (still love 'em) and Busted (don't listen to them that much anymore though) from Pepsi Chart TV show. After hearing one song, I had to buy the whole albums.
Nowadays if I hear a good song, I dig it up from YouTube or download it from somewhere before buying the album. And sometimes I don't buy the album at all. It's a shame.
